Hundreds of Afghans rounded-up in Pakistan

PESHAWAR (SW): In retaliation to the latest string of terrorist attacks, security forces in Pakistan have rounded-up hundreds of Afghan nationals from various cities across Pakistan.

Search operations have been conducted in Badami Bagh, Raiwind, Civil Lines, Old Anarkali, Gulshan-i-Ravi, Gulberg, Ghalib Market, Nishter Colony, Sanda, Naseerabad, Township and other areas of Lahore city. According to the Dawn news, a total of 144 suspects were arrested in these areas of the city.

The law enforcement agencies also arrested 58 suspects, including 19 Afghan nationals, from different areas of Kasur, Pattoki and Chunian areas. The LEAs also arrested 42 Afghan nationals during a midnight search operation in various parts of Sialkot.

The Afghan Consulate in Peshawar has charged that the Pakistani authorities have once again intensified persecution of the Afghan refugees. Abdul Majeed Jalili, an official at the Consulate told Salam Watandar talks are underway to ensure release of the refugees.

Meanwhile, the Dawn news has quoted security officials saying they have been ordered to ‘shoot anyone found trying to enter Pakistan illegally from any area of the border,”.
