KHOST CITY (SW) – Humayon Humayon, deputy speaker of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Tuesday claimed he has brokered a conditional ‘deal’ with the president, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
Humayon, known for his harsh criticism of the president, told this to a gathering in the province during a political rally on Tuesday. The WJ deputy speaker said he has asked the president to appoint locals as governor, police chief, NDS chief and city mayor in Khost. He added the president would face hurdles in the forthcoming presidential elections if he did not approve these demands.
Meanwhile, a number of Khost residents have denounced these remarks by Humayon Humayon.
Gul Abbas, expert on legal affairs, said in this regard that the WJ deputy speaker has no rights or authority to pressurize the president.
Salam Watandar wished to have the views of the presidential palace on this matter, but to no avail.
