KABUL (SW): Representatives of the government as well as the Hezb-i-Islami Party (HIP) have expressed optimism about a peace agreement in the near future.
Talks with the HIP led by the former prime minister Gulbudin Hekmatyar have been underway for months now to reach a peace deal. Mohammad Ismael Qasimyar, member of the High Peace Council (HPC) told Salam Watandar that the process is intact.
He confirmed that a five-member delegation of the HIP is in Kabul busy in talks with the HIP over the final deal. Qasimyar added that at the moment, discussion are underway on the points of the agreement that remained vague.
The HIP member expressed optimism that soon the final agreement would be reached that would be signed by the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and HIP leader Gulbudin Hekmatyar.
In the meantime, Gul Mohammad Gulzoy, a member of HIP executive council said that another subject of the discussion is the ways and means to ensure arrival of Gulbudin to Afghanistan.
The HIP and the HPC have so far held three sessions of talks on the proposed peace deal.
