KABUL (SW) – At least 15 historical sites in Logar province are faced with destruction amid negligence of the authorities and locals.
Head of the information and culture directorate, Abdul Rehman Tassal, told Salam Watandar that efforts are underway in collaboration with some aid agencies. Among these sites include the Shikara Castle, De Castle, Parao historical area, historical sites of the Khwaja Syed Ahmad, Zargho city historical site and more.
He added the top officials in Kabul have pledged to support the efforts to safeguard and rehabilitate these sites. Tassal also urged Logar residents to be sensitive and careful in this regard.
Head of the information and culture directorate said currently work is underway to revive the historic site of Malak Sabz Ali that dates back some 800 year in the past.
In conversation with SW, a number of local residents welcomed these efforts.
Located at a distance of less than 100 km southeast of Kabul, the Logar province is also home to rich mineral resources such as copper and chromite.
