KABUL (SW): After staggering decline in foreign aid to Afghanistan since 2014, analysts believe the government needs to use each and every penny precisely and with care.
A number of experts argue that the aid provided by countries like the U.S, the U.K, the EU and other supporting countries and organizations should be utilized in a planned way that ultimately leads to self-reliance.
According to reports, the U.S has recently pledged $ one billion to help improve the security situation in Afghanistan.
Pakistan too has set aside $ 500 million for health and education while the Great Britain has promised to send 400 fresh troops to Afghanistan. Experts stress that the Afghan government has the opportunity to use these fresh funds in the best possible way to avoid wastage like in the past.
Jawed Kohistani, a military affairs expert, said that these funds are instrumental to ensure security and stability in the country and government should develop a good plan in terms of monitoring the effective use of the funds.
Abdul Ghafar Gardizi, another analyst, told Salam Watandar that security is one of the priorities of the citizens, hence these funds should be used to secure the country. He said that the international community should also closely monitor the aid.
Many Afghans believe that similar funds worth billions of dollars were poured into the country in the past many years but most of it went to the pockets of few powerful individuals.
It is a common perception that had the government used these funds fairly and wisely, things could have been much better.
