KABUL (SW): Hezb-e-Islami, the party of former Mujahedeen leader Gulbadin Hekmatyar, has noted that it is close to an understanding with the High Peace Council (HPC).
Amin Kareem, a representative of the HI told Salam Watandar that his party has so far held two rounds of peace talks with the officials in Kabul. He said that the parties indulged in talks over system of governance, political arrangements, justice and elections.
Kareem said that a document has been prepared in this regard.
Gulbadin’s man said that the document is under study by the both sides.
He however, feared that since the international community, particularly the US has so far not expressed its stance on these developments that might jeopardize the whole process. Salam Watandar wished to contact the HCP and have its views but to no avail.
He also charged that war and instability favors some elements within the government who oppose a settlement and peace in the country.
