KABUL (SW): The High Council for Peace (HCP) has expressed hope that the peace talks with the Taliban would commence next month.
Habibullah Fauzi, Head for the international affairs at the HCP told Salam Watandar that rebels group like the Taliban and Hizb-e-Islami are willing to join the process. He expressed hope that if these talks are held in a good way, it would certainly leave lasting positive impacts.
So far, two rounds of the quadrilateral talks among Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and the U.S have been held. Officials of these countries are trying to reach a consensus for the revival of peace talks before the fighting intensifies in Afghanistan at the end of winter in a few months.
Mohammad Hassan Haqyar, an analyst who attended a consultative season on peace in Afghanistan organized by the Pugwash Institute in Doha, Qatar last week, told Salam Watandar that the Taliban are willing to join the quadrilateral talks. He added that the fact the world powers like the U.S and China are on the table, the Taliban feel confident about a concrete outcome.
