Hezb and Jamiat re-engage in deadly clash in Takhar

TALOQAN (SW): A clash between loyalists of the Hezb-i-Islami and Jamiat-i-Islami parties claimed one life in Takhar province on Wednesday.

Provincial security authorities have said that Hussein Janbi, a commander loyalist to Hezb-i-Islam's regional leader Faizullah, got engaged in this clash with a commander of Jamiat-i-Islami party in the early hours on Wednesday in Takhan Abad area of Chah Abad district in the province.

Sayed Jahangir, provincial police chief, told Salam Watandar that the clash between the two parties’ loyalists has claimed one life and injured 4 more including 2 members of the Hezb-i-Islami party. But, Afzal Shamil, member of the Mishrano Jirga (upper house),  talking to Salam Watandar claimed that 5 members of Hezb-i-Islami are killed in the clash, and Hussein Janbi, their commander is wounded.

On the contrary, a group of witnesses has said that at least 10 dead bodies were seen at the scene of the clash, but the witnesses could not confirm their identities. A school building has been damaged as a result of the clash.

On Saturday, 22 members of Jamiat party were allegedly killed in the first clash. Family members of the victims have camped outside the provincial administration building demanding proper investigation and justice
