HERAT CITY (SW): Mohammadullah Batash, the minister for Transport and Civil Aviation (MTCA) has terminated six officials, including two senior officers, at the Herat traffic directorate on Thursday.
He stated on Thursday at a press conference in Herat, that in order to bring reforms at Directorate of Territorial Regulating and Herat Transport (DTRHT), he has fired six officials including two senior officers on charges of duty negligence. He briefed that these terminations have been made at the Islam Qala, Tor Ghondi, Mir Dawood and Khaima Dowzan offices.
Mohammadullah Batash asserted that a number of influential individuals had established private car parking spots in Herat, and were charging citizens with fee. The minister announced that he has asked the local government together with security forces to close down all private parking facilities, and bring the culprits to justice.
Batash noted that the dry port was illegally manipulated by powerful men who would collect fee for personal gains. He added that the terminal has now been given under the control of the DTRHT.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Asif Rahimi, the governor of Herat, asked the minister to replace vacant posts with competent and experienced candidates. He added that the job announcements for these posts would be made public soon.
