KABUL (SW): Head of Herat’s provincial council is sentenced to two years and six months imprisonment by the primary court.
The primary court judges of the special anti-corruption tribunal in Kabul sentenced in absentia, Kamran Alizayi, head of Herat provincial council, for misuse of authority to two years and six months imprisonment. The special tribunal judges said Kamran Alizayi, head of Herat provincial council, was charged for misuse of authority and exceeding his legal limits as a public servant.
Shir Aqa Munib, chief judge at the special tribunal for anti-corruption of Afghanistan’s Anti-Corruption Justice Center, said Kamran Alizayi, is acquitted for misuse of authority under Article 235 of Criminal Procedure Code. But, the accused is sentenced for 2 years and six month imprisonment under Article 285 (2) of Penal Code in line with Article 209 of Criminal Procedure Code for exceeding his legal limits as public service officer. “This sentence is not final, both sides of the party can appeal”, explained Munib.
Kamran Alizayi, head of Herat provincial council, has been blamed for entering Herat’s anti-corruption appellate tribunal with his armed men to help escape an accused person from the court last year. The Attorney General’s Office of the country issued arrest warrant for Alizayi for his misuse of authority as a public servant after last year’s abatement in escaping of another accused person.
