HERAT CITY (SW): The fifth session of Herat Security Dialogue was held on Friday in the ancient city of Herat.
Speaking at the occasion, Daud Muradian, the head of Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS) said that during this two-day gathering, an exclusive conference would be held to review the political issues and security challenges in Afghanistan. Muradian mentioned that Herat Security Dialogue’s fifth conference is aimed to form a platform to study strategic solutions for the local and regional security challenges.
The head for Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies announced that the participants would discuss Pak-Afghan and Indo-Afghan security situation.
Mohammad Asef Rahemi, the governor for Herat province was also present in this session. He stated that this conference is of vital importance to develop regional consensus on different issues. Rahemi urged the participants to struggle for peace.
Ahmed Saeedi, commentator on political affairs, also spoke on the occasion. Saeedi stated that this seminar is a path that leads to peace, but it cannot address the current crisis of the country. He noted that peace cannot be restored in the region unless Pakistani generals leave sponsoring terrorism.
High ranking officials, including 120 participants from 15 countries took part in this program. Representatives from Pakistan, Iran, India, China, Russia, the US, France, Turkey, Tajikistan, Germany, Britain and other international organizations such as the UN and NATO were present in this two-day security conference.
