HERAT CITY (SW): Pharmacists at the Noor Hospital in western Herat province produce more than 40 types of eye drops and provide it free of cost to the needy persons.
Dr. Jamal Naser Akhundzada, head of the hospital said the raw materials for these drops are facilitated by IAM International Organization, a foreign charity and then are prescribed by the trained pharmacists for the patients.
Dr. Akhundzada said that these eye drops are not marketed and are only prescribed for patients in this hospital.
“We have eye drop producing department in the hospital run by pharmacists who were trained by I AM International”, he said.
Head of the Noor hospital said around 300 to 450 patients come to the hospital to receive treatment on daily basis.
Saleh Muhammad Saleh is one of the pharmacists in the hospital. He emphasized that the quality of these eye drops was far effective than the ones found in the market.
Ghulam Hazrat, an eye patient told SW he was very happy with the services and medicines provided here.
Herat is prone to Adenovirus outbreaks in the summer that leaves many people with eye infection.
