LASHKARGAH (SW): The director of Hajj of Helmand province has been charged with alleged corruption by the provincial attorney general’s office.
The local authorities have said the director of Hajj is charged with negligence, abuse of public office and nepotism. According to the local authorities, the director of Hajj is in detention by the provincial attorney general’s office.
Hayatullah Hayat, the governor of Helmand, addressing a press conference on Thursday in Helmand said Abdul Hamid Qarizada, the provincial director of Hajj is apprehended for corruption. “He had failed to follow the term of reference issued by the Ministry of Hajj and Islamic Affairs”, informed Hayat.
The governor also said that at least 211 police and military employees have been charged with corruption by the provincial attorney general’s office.
