HERAT CITY (SW): Since 3 days Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the leader of Hezb-i-Islami party, is in Herat province. At the margin of commemorating World Peace Day on Thursday, he stated that some people, especially those who played a key role in the Afghan Jihad, have made prosecution war criminals as the main topic of their agenda.
According to him, these people while insisting on the prosecution of war criminals, they were themselves involved in decades of civil war in the country.
The leader of Hezb-i-Islami said he accepts the prosecution of the war criminals on a condition only if everyone involved in the destruction of Kabul during the civil war, are prosecuted.
He urged Jihadi leaders to ask the Supreme Court for the prosecution of the war criminals.
Gulbuddin Hekmatyar added that some former Mujahidin and people lament him for ethnic prejudice while they have created parallel institutions in provinces and ministries for the benefit of an ethnic group.
Ehsan Qaneh, a civil society activist, talking to Salam Watandar said every person who committed war crimes should be prosecuted for justice. He added that despite the fact that the prosecution of war criminals has become a political debate, but he urged that justice should be upheld.
