KABUL (SW) – Deputy foreign minister, Hekmat Khalil Karzai, on Wednesday resigned from his post with immediate effect.
In the resignation letter addressed to the president, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the deputy minister said he tried his best for the success of foreign policy, but differences within the National Unity Government limited the scope of his work.
In his resignation letter, Karzai further noted that under such circumstances, he did not felt his stay in the government effective for the defense of peoples’ fundamental rights.
Hekmat Khalil Karzai has been serving as deputy minister for foreign affairs for the past four years.
