PUL-E-KHUMRI (SW): A number of doctors and other health staffers have gone on strike in northern Baghlan province protest against the misbehavior of the police and other powerful men.
The protestors claimed that the public hospital staff in Guzargah Noor district has been beaten and threatened of dire consequences if the injured brought by the police are not treated well! The protestors said that the men associated with the security forces have beaten-up health staffers once before as well. The demonstrators added that in this regard they have complained to the relevant institutions but the officials have just made apologies and have not done anything practical in this regard.
The protesting doctors urged the security forces to ensure their safety and stop these incidents from recurring otherwise the doctors would go on long strike.
Confirming the incident, Amir Gul Hassankhil, the police chief in Baghlan has stated that such incidents in the past have been properly investigated and the perpetrators punished. He asserted that the police is public’s servant.
