JALALABAD (SW) – At least 11 people got killed in an armed assault on directorate of education in Jalalabad, capital of Nangarhar province, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, informed Salam Watandar a total of 11 people, including ten staff members of the directorate of education, got killed and eleven people got wounded. He said two attackers were involved in this assault, one of whom blew himself at the entrance while the second one got killed by the security forces.
Syed Inamullah Miakhail, director public health, has confirmed the death toll. He said some of the injured have been admitted for treatment while others are discharged after treatment.
According to the spokesman for the directorate of education, Asif Shinwari, head of the directorate, Noor Mohammad, and one of his directors are among the victims. He added the compound got severely damaged due to the attack.
