Mitra: I applied for job in a government office. At the very beginning, when I was preparing myself for the registration and entry test, the director asked me to befriend him. “If you make sure your friendship with me, I will arrange for you to succeed the test. In response to his brazen offer I tore the application form and left the office immediately.
Malalai: I was a low ranking government employee. A vacant post was announced. To get promotion, I decided to apply for that vacant post. The director who was responsible for this section, took my hand, pulled me aside and told me: “If you stay with me and meet my demands I will help you achieve this post”. Listening to him, I dragged my hand back and told him to get away. The next day I resigned. I lost my job and am still unemployed.
Nazgul: After graduation from university I applied for a job in a government office. I however was not very hopeful to win the post after I learnt that there were 7 more male applicants.. Nonetheless the person who was in-charge for entry test had called me during the same week. I didn’t notice his call but the next time he called me, I answered. He asked me to visit him the next day in his office. The next day when I got to his office he approached me and boldly said that he wanted me to sleep with him in return for the job. I got angry and slapped him across the face and rushed out of his office.
Noriya: I was newly appointed in an NGO. I was in desperate need for money. I was doing all my duties as fine as possible. However after my colleagues came to know that I was a divorced penniless woman, they changed their attitudes toward me. Among my male coworkers, an influential person who was close to the director, would do everything to win me over. One day during an official visit, placed his foot over mine and then complimented my legs. He was so brazen that it attracted the attention of all my colleagues. He wasn’t ashamed at all by his inappropriate attitude. I warned him that I would go and complain against him to the manager but he coolly said to me “You are either so back-warded or try to sell your body very expensive”. Right after that moment, I faced many hardships at the workplace. Later on I realized that my reaction to his vile attitude brought forth a number of gossips and false accusation which eventually cost my job.
