GHAZNI CITY (SW): Noorul Haq Ulomi, the Interior Minister has vowed to have crushed the militants fighting with the government forces across the country under “white or black flags”.
According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), Ulomi said this as he visited restive Ghazni province on Monday. He added the Afghan security forces have designed special plans to bravely protect the frontiers and cities alike. “Militants trained by Pakistan are fighting under the black and white flags but they have been crushed by the Afghan forces in various provinces”, he said.
The Minister added militants wish to overrun ten different provinces but their plans have been thwarted. For the security of various highways in the Ghazni province, the Minister vowed to place additional units of the Afghan Local Police (ALP).
Ghazni residents shared their concerns regarding the security situation with the visiting minister.
Seperately on Tuesday, the MoI has claimed to have killed at least 29 armed rebels on various fronts. The jjoint operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Laghman, Oruzgan, Herat and Helmand provinces, as a result 29 armed insurgents were killed and 24 others were wounded, it said.
Also, during these operations, Afghan National Police discovered and confiscated light and heavy rounds ammunition.
