KABUL (SW): Hameeda Safi is a young graduate from the faculty of journalism who has decided to try her luck as an entrepreneur with a brand new store of traditional cloths in the capital Kabul.
She said that she has launched her business with a small amount of money in a bid to preserve and promote Afghanistan’s traditional clothes in this age of globalization.
At the moment, as many as 5 women work at her store. She said that her goal is to extend her business but at the moment, she cannot afford to invest more capital than what she has already invested.
Talking to Salam Watandar, she added that a large number of Afghan women are interested in wearing traditional clothes but they cannot purchase it as it is too expensive for many of them. She added that most of her customers are working women, who have high decent income.
This young woman entrepreneur regretted that the situation in the country is not very feasible for business and the government too does not support the businesswomen as much as it should have. Hameeda went on to say that she wants to create jobs for other women so that they can learn skills for tailoring such clothes, and eventually support their family.
There are different kinds of traditional dresses available at her store. One can find neatly done vest coats, fabulous silk shawls, variety of coats, traditional long dresses with colorful embroidery etc here.
This Afghan businesswoman wishes to market her products in a best way so that the countrymen and women prefer their own products over the imported ones from China, Turkey, India or Pakistan.
