KABUL (SW) – The Independent Election Commission (IEC) has acknowledged close to half of the 2917 voter registration centers in district and villages across the country are closed due to insecurity.
This comes as the voter registration process enters third phase in districts and villages. Abdul Aziz Ibrahimi, spokesman for the IEC, informed Salam Watandar up to 1357 registration centers are still closed due to insecurity.
The IEC spokesman particularly expressed concerns over the deadlock in electoral process in Ghazni province.
As per the IEC figures, so far 6.6 million potential voters have registered for the forthcoming district and parliamentary elections. Soon the final phase of registration would commence for the security force s across the country.
