KANDAHAR CITY (SW): Unknown gunmen killed 7 members of a family last night in Mili Kariz area of Shahwali Kot district in southern Kandahar province.
Speaking to Salam Watandar, Zia Duranni, the spokesperson for the police chief in Kandahar, said that all those who have been shot dead were civilians. The spokesperson for Kandahar police chief said that investigations are underway. He further said that according to our information, unknown gunmen killed 7 members of a family, 3 of whom were women.
Durrani stated that one of the gunmen has also been killed during the attack, and his dead body has been taken by the gunmen to an unknown place.
Muhammad Akram, a local resident in Mili Kariz area, told Salam Watandar that he knew all those who were murdered. He added that they were all ordinary residents of the village. Muhammad said that the motive behind the murders was unknown. This local resident explained that he learnt about the last night’s incident when he was on his way to mosque to offer the morning’s prayer.
In Kandahar and its surroundings, the assassinations of the tribal elders have been underway for a while now. In recent years, hundreds of tribal leaders and elders have been mysteriously killed.
