KABUL (SW): Gul Bashra, a woman from one of the most volatile districts of Ghazni province has come to the capital Kabul to ask for justice after being brutally tortured by her husband for several days.
As she recounted her ordeal, tears started rolling down her cheeks. Her husband reportedly started beating and abusing her only days after their marriage. She has been beaten so badly, her eyesight is gone.
“He stripped off my clothes in the winter, poured cold water on me, tortured me and then smeared pepper on my wounds”.
Accompanying Gul Bashra, Abdul Sattar, her uncle said that they complained to the Woman Affairs Department, Police and Attorney in Ghazni but these institutions did not take any action.
Fawzia Kakar, who works in the provincial Woman Affairs Department in Ghazni told SW that they have investigated the case and ordered the law enforcement institutions to arrest her husband.
The man however, is on the run and Gul Bashra remains concerned about her ambiguous future.
