KABUL (SW): Protestors took to the streets in Kabul on Wednesday demanding government’s attention towards the worsening law and order situation in the east of the country.
The demo was organized by East Civic Movement that in front of the new parliament building in the west of the city. Organizers of this event urged the government to restore peace in the eastern provinces. A 12-point declaration was adopted at the end of the protest.
It demanded that those responsible for destabilizing peace should be punished publically. The declaration also called for closure of the pro-Daesh radio in Nangarhar province that has been blamed for spreading terror in Jalaabad City and adjourning areas.
The East Civic Movement warned that deteriorating security situation in the east would leave devastating impacts on the overall security in the country. Members of this movement demanded that those officials not performing their duties to ensure peace must be dismissed.
On Sunday, a suicide attacker blew himself up in the middle of pro-government tribal elders in eastern Afghanistan killing at least 13 people. The ECM asserts that a number of tribal leaders have been killed in such attacks.
