KABUL (SW): A number of political analysts believe the National Unity Government (NUG) lacks clear strategy to fight corruption.
In conversation with the Salam Watandar, the analysts said that the government chants slogan of countering corruption but it keeps appointing corrupt men on high ranking positions.
Speaking to Salam Watandar, Khalil Roman, a political analyst, said that there are contradictory views within the government when it comes to countering corruption. He said that the government has no strategy to eradicate corruption.
Ferdous Kawish, another political analyst, stated that the NUG lacks political determination to fight corruption. Kawish said that appointing corrupt individuals on high ranking positions has discouraged the international community.
Latif Nazari, a university lecturer, told Salam Watandar that the NUG has never been determined to fight corruption, and it has only chanted empty slogan in this regard. He said the government’s lack of intention in fighting corruption has badly damaged its legitimacy.
A number of Masharano Jirga (upper house) members have also criticized the corrupt individuals who have been appointed in higher capacities. They urged the government to take practical measures to eradicate corruption.
