KABUL (SW) – The government has no will or plan to safeguard the masses, the Civil Society Joint Working Group noted on Thursday in the wake of surging terrorist attacks across the country.
Members of the group said the government’s ineffectiveness has led to the rages of war reach towns and villages everywhere. They lamented that the security sector is ‘politicized’ and the number of qualified professionals in this sector is very thin.
Khalil Raufi, member of the CSJWG, said on the occasion the deadly assault on an academic institution in Dasht-e-Barchi area of the city on Wednesday reflects failure of the security forces. He said instances such as the Taliban assault on Ghazni and surge in civilian casualties across the country indicate the government has left the masses on their own. Raufi said incompetent officials should be terminated and referred to the legal institutions for accountability.
Meanwhile, Ghafoor Ahmad Javed, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, in telephonic conversation with Salam Watandar rejected these allegations, and stressed the security sector is not politicized. He said the security forces are focused on their primary responsibility of safeguarding the country and the people.
Friends and relatives of the Wednesday bombing in Dasht-e-Barchi laid their loved ones to rest today. More than 100 people got killed and wounded in this widely condemned attack.
