28/06/2016

KABUL (SW): A source close to the Hezb-i-Islami party has said that the Afghan government has asked them to publically acknowledge the Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) signed with the US.

The source added that the Hezb-i-Islami party will approve all the pacts the government has signed except for the BSA.

Meanwhile, Abdul Khabeer, deputy chief of the High Peace Council (HPC) has said in this regard that the government and Hezb-i-Islami have agreed on 25-point agenda for the peace talks. He however, added that in the latest session of talks between the two, after Hezb-i-Islami delegation returned from Pakistan, it presented new recommendations that were not acceptable to the government.

The HPC deputy chief added that the Hezb-i-Islami delegation is now back in Pakistan, and would inform the Afghan government about its stance on return. “There are some conflicting reports in the media associated with the Hezb-i-Islami calling for scraping the security pacts, and demanding the timeframe for the foreign forces’ exit, these points were not in the discussion and are red lines for Afghanistan to cross”.

Media reports noted today that the chief of Hezb-i-Islami has scraped the peace deal that was under discussion with the government.
