GHOR (SW) – A number of Ghor residents on Thursday staged demonstration against the alleged imbalance and unjust annual budget for 2020-21.
Protest demonstrations against the budget have been underway in Ghor for the past nine days in Ghor. Blaming the government for not paying attention to the calls for justice and mega development projects in Ghor, the protesters have closed down government offices in the provincial capital, Feroz Koh.
Abdul Qadir Ghori, head of the Ghoris association, said on this occasion that the annual budget 2020-21 is unjust, and the people in the province only want electricity and roads. One of the protesters, Ghulam Nabi, said Ghor is one of the least developed provinces of the country that deserve more funds in the national budget.
Protesters in Ghor vowed not to allow the government offices open until the government approves of their demands.
It is worth noticing President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani promised to develop a dam and main highway in Ghor, but that projects are yet to be conceived. Earlier this week, the presidency announced to dispatch a delegation to Ghor to meet the protesters, but no delegation has so far reached the province.
