GHAZNI CITY (SW) – The Provincial council members in Ghazni informed on Tuesday the Taliban attacked Muqar district’s police headquarters with a suicide car-bombing followed by armed assault.
Esmatullah Jamradwal, member of the provincial council, said the police headquarters was hit by the suicide car bomber at around 03: 00 am that followed scores of armed Taliban engaging in armed clashes with the police there.
Another member of the PC, Naseer Ahmad Faqiri, said up to six policemen got killed and 25 others got wounded in these clashes. In a statement, the provincial administration has confirmed five security forces got killed these clashes while 26 people, including militants, got wounded.
The Taliban launched this attack to overrun the district as the security forces were observing first day of ceasefire declared by the government last day.
