Ghazni provincial hospital fails to effectively treat patients

06/04/2018

GHAZNI (SW): Some members of the Ghazni Provincial Council (GPC) and a number of residents of Ghazni have expressed concern over the provision of health services at the provincial government hospital in Ghazni saying that the hospital lacks medication and the doctors at the provincial hospital don’t pay attention to the treatment of the patients.

Ghulam Hussain Ammar, a member of the GPC told Salam Watandar that the problems of medicine deficits have been shared with the central government multiple times, but to no avail.

Baz Mohammad Hemmat, head of the provincial government hospital in Ghazni said that the Ministry of Public Health has been providing the resources needed for a provincial hospital; however, the hospital has been receiving patients from the neighboring provinces as well.

In 2017, nearly 200,000 patients were treated at the Ghazni provincial government hospital, which is a huge number in contrast to the resources the hospital had at its disposal, Hemmat added.

According to some reports, Ghazni provincial government hospital is the only hospital in the province to provide health services to the military and civilians, however, due to government’s laxity to health provisions in a number of districts in Ghazni, residents of Malistan district have built a 40-bed hospital on their own budgets.
