KABUL (SW) – The internally displaced families from restive Jaghori and Maalistan districts have thanked the general public for their solidarity and support.
Since over a week, many civilians from Jaghori and Maalistan have fled the violence and moved to neighbouring Ghazni city, Bamyan, Daikundi, Maidan Wardag and Kabul provinces. In conversation with Salam Watandar, many such IDPs in Kabul and Bamyan provinces said the support from aid agencies has not been sufficient, however, general public showed generous solidarity towards them.
Many hosts of the displaced families vowed to continue with the support as long as it is needed.
Uzra, one such host in Bamyan, said she is hosting the IDPs in a home with two rooms, providing them with food and water as well. Amir, a Kabul resident, said he donated four blankets to a displaced family.
According to Kabul residents, a large number of Afghans living abroad have also pledged support for the Ghazni IDPs.
Last Sunday, the International Committee of Red Cross also announced that 600 displaced families have been provided with food and non-food supplies. This included flour, rice, oil, beans, tea and some other food items, and blankets, tents, and kitchen appliances.
