GHAZNI (SW): Ghazni Provincial Council elections were held today; but after physical clashes between the representatives.

First, on the basis of votes, Amanullah Kamrani was elected as Deputy Council, and Hamidullah Sarwari as Secretary of Council. But with two rounds of elections, and by obtaining equal votes; neither Latifa Akbari nor Nasir Ahmad Faqiry could win the Presidency of the Council. However, it was decided that after examining the qualifications and experiences of the candidates by the committee comprised of representatives, justice institutions, and provincial office of Independent Election Commission, one of these two will be announced winner for the position of head of Ghazni Provincial Council.

Fatema Rahimi, a member of the Ghazni Provinvial Council, told Salam Watandar that disagreements between Hassan Reza Yousefi and Nasir Ahmad Faqiri, two members of the Ghazni Provincial Council, led to physical clashes.

Nawid Faisal, one of the eye witness of the incident told Salam Watandar, that the conflict began after Latifa Akbari and Hassan Reza Yousefi, former secretary of the Ghazni Provincial Council, based on a letter from local organs, pushed the Nasir Ahmad Faqiry to submit his educational documents to the committee, but Nasir Ahmad Faqiry delayed the process for tomorrow, and this issue caused the physical clashes between them.

According to Nawid Faisal, while the situation got normal, the security forces entered the scene.

Previously, most delegates believed that disagreements between provincial council members and the extensive interferences of politicians and political groups and senior local government official delayed the provincial council elections in Ghazni.
