Ghani vows to supply electricity across Durand Line

KHOST (SW): The Presidential Palace issued a statement announcing that President Ghani had met with university professors and a number of school teachers in Khost province today (Tuesday), and have said the Afghan government plans to distribute electricity to the people on the other side of Durand Line in Pakistan in the coming years.

According to the statement, in the coming years, electricity will be supplied from Khost, Paktia and Nangarhar provinces to the other side of Durand Line to Pashtun people in Pakistan.

The statement also announced that President Ghani has shared this information with Pakistan Prime Minister Khaqan Abbasi during his recent visit to Kabul.

According to the statement, the university professors and schools’ teachers in Khost have called for government’s attention to the people on the other side of Durand Line.

President Ghani has announced the distribution of electricity to the other side of Durand Line; meanwhile, Afghanistan has been importing electricity from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and cannot satisfy the electricity needs of the country’s residents. On top of it, mostly the residents of the capital city – Kabul have been living without electricity during winter times and load-shedding has been seen throughout the year.
