KABUL (SW): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has said the country’s Air Force would become comprehensive and strong by the year 2020.

President Ghani said this at the graduation ceremony of young cadets at the Marshal Faheem Military Academy here on Thursday. He said better equipping and enhancing the Afghan Air Force (AAF) is part of the 4-year security strategy, and there are more plans under consideration. Praising the sacrifices of the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANSDF) in defending the motherland, he added best quality health services and social security are ensured for them.

Ghani also harshly criticized the corrupt elements within the security establishment over embezzling the funds for food, uniform and fuel. He added such mafia elements would be dealt with legally.

Just last week, there was a report from the Badghis province about three police officers selling arms and ammunitions to the Taliban militants. Similar reports have emerged in the past as well.
