GHAZNI CITY (SW) – President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Friday directed thorough investigation of the Taliban’s massive assault on Ghazni city.
He visited the devastated city on Friday to meet locals and monitor security situation. According to the Arg (presidential palace), Ghani said the situation would be investigated by the National Directorate of Security, and those officials who demonstrated bravery in the face of the rebels’ assault would be celebrated.
The president also directed formation of additional police stations and a complete overhaul of security in the city. He also offered prayers for the soul of the victims of this brutal assault.
This comes as hundreds of rebels got killed and scores of civilians and security personnel sustained casualties in the Taliban’s brief control over the city earlier this month.
