KABUL (SW): A death penalty list of Taliban and Haqqani insurgents in the government’s captivity has been prepared for the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani’s endorsement.

A source in the Arg (Presidential Palace) on conditions of anonymity told Salam Watandar that a death penalty list of 11 insurgents from Haqqani and Taliban groups who are prisoners, has been sent to the president for endorsement.

According to the source, Anas Haqqani, second high ranked insurgent of Haqqani group is not on the list. The list has been prepared after Wednesday’s deadly blast in Kabul which claimed more than 80 lives and injured 400 others.

The Afghanistan National Directorate of Security (ANDS) has announced that the Wednesday’s attack on Kabul was executed by the Haqqani group. “The gruesome attack on Wednesday in Kabul was designed and executed by Haqqani group with the direct support of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence”, claims ANDS.

The Foreign Ministry of Pakistan has condemned the Wednesday’s attack in Kabul in a statement.
