KABUL (SW): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has said that the country would witness a number of mega economic projects in the coming days.
Ghani said this in his “Nauroz” message here on Sunday. The day marks arrival of the spring hence New Year in this part of the world.
The President promised that power generation would witness an unprecedented boost. He went on to say that the country would be linked via rail network with neighboring Iran and Pakistan. He said electricity production in the year 1395 would be unprecedented to the previous one hundred years.
Ghani noted that Afghans faced an economic challenge in the previous year and would now bear the fruits of their hardships in the coming days.
The President also stressed that the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) are capable and determined to take care of the security situation. Ghani acknowledged the shortcomings of the government in certain sectors, particularly in regard to corruption.
He emphasized upon serious efforts to eradicate corruption. “The previous year was a matter of survival for Afghanistan, but we should turn this year into a serious battle against corruption”.
