KABUL (SW): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has invited the parliamentarians to join him and the Chief Executive at the Arg (Preisential Palace) this evening to confer on the security affairs.
Zahir Qadeer, deputy speaker of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Monday informed the house about the invitation. He noted that the four members of the joint house representing different zones of the country would take part in the consultation at Arg.
In this exclusive meeting, according to Qadeer, the Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and his deputies alongside corresponding security officials would also take part. Matters related to the peace process would also be on the table.
The deputy speaker told the WJ that these members would brief the higher-ups about situation in their respective constituencies. Irfanullah Irfan, the secretary of the house, suggested to the members to be well prepared for the session and suggest comprehensive ways and means to tackle the insecurity.
This comes at a time when the Taliban have focused on overrunning a number of restive districts with their newly announced offensives while the government forces are bent upon eliminating the rebels for good in the ongoing “Shafaq Operation”.
