25/04/2016

KABUL (SW): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said that regional terrorist groups like Daesh, Haqani Network and a number of Taliban are the enemies of Afghanistan.

Speaking at a joint session with members of both houses of the parliament on Monday, he addressed Pakistan that from now on it is not the responsibility of Pakistan to bring Taliban to the negotiating table or target them in its soil since we ourselves take action about them. The President emphasized that the security forces can target the terrorists everywhere and at any time.

On the decree about executing a number of prisoners, he said that the decrees issued would be implemented thoroughly. He said that he has complained through diplomatic channels to the United Nations about Pakistan. Ghani added that the doors for peace would not be closed and those Taliban who lay their guns down, the government welcomes them with open arm but those who continue to fight would be eliminated.

He further added that the government is firm to its commitments and the elections for district councils and the parliament would be held on time. The President pointed out that he would soon introduce Minister for Defense and director for the National Directorate of Security (NDS) since these two security organs are currently led by acting heads.

He informed of certain elements within the government who support the enemy and said that the enemy has used this weak point in the government’s structure for their favor.

Praising the security forces, the President said that over the past year 16,000 operations have been launched across the country and currently the security forces are fighting against Haqani Network in 7 provinces in the country.

Haqani Network claimed responsibility for the last week’s suicide attack in Kabul, which was allegedly masterminded in Pakistan, raised public ire in the country.
