Friendship with a dictator; Sarkozy was arrested

KABUL (SW): Nicolas Sarkozy, the former French president was arrested on charges of receiving funds from the former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in the 2007 election. Sarkozy is said to have received 50 million euro from Muammar Gaddafi.

Although, the former president of France has said repeatedly that these allegations are untrue and baseless, however, Saiful Islam Gaddafi, the eldest son of the Muammar Gaddafi has said in a television interview that Sarkozy has to return the money back to Libya that he received from his father for the French election.

Although Nicolas Sarkozy’s case was reopened in April 2013, however, this is the first time he is being formally questioned.

Sarkozy won the presidential election in 2007 but was defeated by Francois Hollande in 2012.
