CHARIKAR (SW) – Suspicion incidents of target killings and growing activities of groups allegedly associated with the Taliban in Parwan province have caused concerns.
A number of local civil society activists are blaming the security forces for being failed in ensuring peace and security. They warned if situation is not controlled at the earliest, no one, including the government officials, would feel safe in the province.

Dr. Mohammad Shafi Mushfiq, head of the board of local civil society activists, and Mohammad Jawad Rasekh, a local civil society activist, said in this regard that the security forces here lack coordination, and are marred by petty politics.
According to these activists, this had led to the killing of four policemen in the province in the past 24 hours alone.
Meanwhile, Gen. Mohammad Mehfooz Walizada, provincial police chief, has discarded these allegations. He said only two incidents of murder have been recorded here in the past ten months. He claimed the security situation was under control.
The local civil society, however, is not convinced, and wants the security officials to allow citizens to ensure their own security if they are unable to do that.
