KABUL (SW): At least eight high ranking officials of the Ministry of Defense (MoD) have been taken into custody over charges of corruption and fraud by the High Council on Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption.
Jamshed Rasuli, spokesman for the Attorney General Office (AGO), told Salam Watandar that these individuals have been charged for misusing their authority, forging documents, and violating the norms of the High Council on Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption. Rasuli said a special tribunal has processed the dossiers of three MoD generals, and have been referred to the High Council on Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption.
The charges include embezzlement of up to $ 1.3 million in procurement of fuel, and $ 2.5 million more in other cases. Meanwhile, Dawlat Waziri, spokesman for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) told Salam Watandar he was not aware about developments in this regard.
