JALALABAD (SW) – Officials in Nangarhar have confirmed at least four members of the Daesh have been killed during an operation by the security forces in the provincial capital, Jalalabad.
A statement issued by the provincial administration said that the group’s head for targeted assassinations in the east of the country and one of the group's attackers have been killed in the operation. The statement added that security forces intended to detain these terrorists, but they clashed with security forces.
The statement said the Daesh fighters used civilians and residential houses as trenches. According to the statement, three of these ISIS members were killed during a security operation, and another blew himself up.
The Nangarhar governor's office said security forces also seized several magnetic and remote-controlled mines, explosives, ammunition, cash, rickshaws and a car during the operation.
Daesh has not yet commented on the attack.
Nangarhar is one of the most insecure provinces in the east of the country. The Achin district of the province is said to be the stronghold of the Daesh group in Afghanistan. Recently, during a visit to the province, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani announced the complete elimination of Daesh in the province.
