GARDEZ (SW) – Foundation stone has been laid for separate hostels for boys and girls in Paktia University.
Speaking on the occasion, Shamim Khan Katawazi, provincial governor, said these hostels have the capacity to house up to 3000 students at the PU. He said work on these hostels would complete in two years. The project would cost AFN 304 million, he added.
Students at the PU expressed optimism this would help resolve their accommodation issues. They have long been complaining against costly rents and lack of facilities in random private hostels in different parts of provincial capital, Gardez city.
At least 8000 students are enrolled at PU having seven faculties.
