KABUL (SW): Local officials in Samangan province said that the former prosecutor general was arrested by police over raping his 13-year old adopted daughter.
According to the officials, Qazi Toorgul raped his daughter repeatedly and the victim was now six months pregnant. It is said the girl also has a 3 year old child from Toorgul.
Munir Ahmad Rahimi, Spokesman for Samangan Police Chief, told Salamwatandar that the former prosecutor was arrested by the police yesterday evening when mother of the victim complained to the police.
Mohammad Hashim Sarwari, a member of Samangan Provincial Council however, told Salamwatandar that the victim herself complained to the police. He added that Toorgul took his adopted daughter to Bamiyan and raped her there.
The victim is now at the Governor’s office and wants Toorgul to be awarded capital punishment.
Meanwhile, a young girl took her life in northern Faryaab province by hanging herself.
Abdul Qadir, acting district chief in Pashtoonkot, told Salamwatandar that the girl(Gulalai) was 20 years old and took her life today (Monday) in the afternoon. He said that the girl was engaged to a man who lived in Chaqmaq area in Pashtoonkot and had another wife as well. Qadir added that it seemed domestic violence was the reason why she took her life. Investigation is underway, he said.
Asadullah, the uncle of the victim, said that she was suffering from seizure and she was engaged to someone she had no interest in.
