KABUL (SW) – During Monday’s general session, the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) called for the formation of an inclusive grand council to address the crisis in the north of the country.
Taking part in the debate on the current situation, a number of MPs urged the government to consider the demands of the residents of the northern provinces.
Ali Akbar Qasemi and Abdul Sattar Darzabi, two such MPs, said the agitations are against inequalities. They added the protests have entered second week with participants raising specific demands. The MPs said the agitation drive is not confined to the arrest of former militia commander, Nezamuudin Qaisari, but extend to the demands of social justice.
The WJ members underlined President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani should implement the law on all equally.
Speaker of the house, Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, pronounced the prevailing situation concerning for all countrymen. Stressing upon the need to form all inclusive grand council on this matter, he said the government should implement the law on all with equality.
Qaisari, a commander of the local uprising militia and interim police chief for the Qaisar district in Faryab province, was taken into custody by the security forces following a troubled security meeting in Maimana, provincial capital, on Tuesday, and moved to Kabul.
