‘Foreign troops withdraw from Farah’

10/02/2019

FARAH CITY (SW) – The foreign troops stationed in Farah province withdrew on Sunday, an official confirmed.

Shah Mehmood Naimi, deputy chairman for the provincial council, said the U.S. and Italian forces were appointed here three months ago with the evident surge in militancy. He said the withdrawal of foreign troops has spiked concerns for security among the locals.

He asserted the deployment of foreign troops and security operations had helped improve security in the province. Naimi said the reasons behind the withdrawal of the foreign troops from Farah are not known yet.

The provincial administration has declined to comment on this matter.

The Taliban have celebrated withdrawal of these troops from Farah.
