KABUL (SW): With high morale, Afghanistan’s football team embarked for Qatar in a bid to prepare for its upcoming ventures.
According to the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF), the national squad would hold a week-long training camp in Qatar to prepare for the big matches against Asian giant Japan and Singapore.
According to the schedule announced by the FIFA, Afghanistan would face Japan in Japan on March 24. The competition is in line with the qualification for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2018 and 2019 Asia Cup.
A total of 25 players have been selected for the training camp in Qatar. Six of them left for Qatar on Wednesday from Kabul while the rest would fly in from different parts of the world. The players selected for the camp include;
Awais Azizi, Hameedullah Wakili, Emal Gariwal, Mustafa Hadeed, Hassan Amin, Syed Mohammad Hashimi, Masekh Seghani, Sharif Mohammad, Abdullah Abdali, Anosh Dastgir, Qismat Ahmadi, Mujib Jamali, Ruhullah Iqbal Zada, Abbasin Ali Khail, Kanishka Taher, Mustafa Zazai, Noorullah Amiri, Zubair Amiri, Omid Popalzai, Ahmad Arash Hatifi, Yousuf Sherdil, Faisal Shaista, Waleed Aimaq, Khyber Amani and Fardin Hakimi.
Coach Petar Segrt and captain Faisal Shaista would lead the camp in Qatar that would prepare for an international match against Japan on the 24th and against Singapore on 29th of March.
At the moment, Afghanistan is lagging behind Syria, Japan and Singapore but ahead of Cambodia in its group E.
