KABUL (SW): Afghanistan’s national football squad would take on Thailand in a friendly encounter on Thursday.
Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) has said the match would come handy in getting ready for a more experienced competitor Japan next month for the FIFA World Cup 2018 Russia. Afghanistan and Japan are due to meet on 8th September for the WC 2018 qualifier.
26 national players have been called for the match against Thailand. Although the formal squad is made up of 23 players but ANFT’s coaches decided to call in 26 players.
AFF Mustafa Mehrzad told SW that there would be 3 goalkeepers and some new players in the squad that would take on Thailand.
Sharif Mohammad, Masih Saighani, Khaiber Amani, Zobair Amiri, Faisal Sakhizada, Hamidullah Wakili, Kawash Haidari and Awais Azizi are the new faces called in for the National Football Team. The friendly match between Afghanistan and Thailand will kick-off at 5:00 pm local time (07:30 pm Afghanistan time) in Rajamangla Stadium in Bankok.
