KABUL (SW) – The national under – 16 football team is set to feature in the forthcoming Central Asian Football Association CAFA U-16 tournament in Uzbekistan next month.
According to the Afghanistan Football Federation, these games would begin on 05 July next month in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Teams from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan would feature in this event.
Afghanistan would play its first match against the host Uzbekistan on the first day at 04:30 pm Kabul time. The Afghan side would face Tajikistan on 07 July at 07:30 pm Kabul time, and Kyrgyzstan at the same time on July 16.
As per the rules, the champion of the event would be declared based on maximum points earned after the games. These games are crucial in terms of preparations for the upcoming U-16 Asian Championship.
Afghanistan is placed in Group D for the U-16 Asian Championships to be played in Malaysia in September. In this group, the Afghan side would play against Australia, defending champion Iraq and South Korea.
